Choose Your Leather

Each pair of shoes is individually made especially for you. All of our shoes (excluding the Thong Sandal) can be made from any leather combination and below is a list of the leathers we currently have in stock. We use top grain leather for our shoes which is the highest quality leather you will find and listed below are the finishes we have depending on what you want your shoes to look and feel like.

Whilst our styles can be made for you in the colours shown on the product pages, we can also make your shoes in any colour displayed on our website or even multicoloured. If you have spotted a colour that isn’t an option you can leave a note at the checkout of what you would like or just drop us an email to double-check. You can view our online gallery here which will give you lots of ideas! Our Facebook & Instagram page is also a great place to find examples of shoes we have made in different colours by special request. We currently have around 40 different leathers to choose from so if you would like to receive some leather samples through the post, let us know which colours you would like and we will happily pop some in the post to you so you can see them in real life before ordering with us.

All our leathers come from three UK companies who we have worked with for over twenty years. We use the highest quality leather which is strong and durable. The leathers we use come from tanneries located in Europe (Germany and Italy) and are a by-product of other industries. We often use surplus or over runs from larger companies ensuring that great materials don’t go to waste. Our suppliers work with reliable and ethical tanneries and suppliers that conform to REACH standards.

Full-Grain Leather (smooth with a slight shine)

These leathers have a ‘lustrous surface’. They can be waxed or polished with a coloured or neutral polish as they age. They smarten up very easily and are lovely and soft. The leathers we use are dyed right through so you will not remove the colour. Apply a nourishing cream, boot wax or coloured shoe cream every so often.

Waxed Nubuck Leather (casual matt look)

Some of our Nubuck leathers have had wax applied after buffing. This gives a patinated effect of slightly changed areas of light and dark where the wax pools. These are attractive matt, distressed-looking leathers and can be treated in various ways as they age (use a boot wax or coloured shoe cream).

Full Grain Pull Up Leather

This leather has a sight sheen and patinated effect of slightly changed areas of light and dark where the wax pools. These are attractive leathers and can be treated in various ways as they age (use a boot wax or coloured shoe cream).

Reverse Suede

Suede comes from inside the leather hide rather than the surface. The suede we use here at Conker comes from the top split but it has been reversed. This means it retains the strength of our other leathers whilst providing a rich attractive and casual suede finish. We recommend using a spray protector to help keep the leather clean and a suede brush or gum block to clean and bring the pile back up and keep your shoes looking fresh.

Grained ripley leather

Full-grain leather with a rippled textured surface. It is particularly soft and can be polished with coloured nourishing shoe cream to retain colour and help repel water and dirt. You can also use a neutral leather wax to help repel water and dirt and help keep the leather supply over the years.
